At the inauguration of the first Jovoy store in Qatar, Francois Henin met AbdulAziz Al Ajail, a well respected and trusted social media figure hailing from Qatar. AbudulAziz is always in-between flights. He travels the world and takes full advantage of each stopover to learn everything about his true passion, perfumery. He’s always on the lookout for a gustative experience, but above all, he’s eager for an olfactory one. Whether exploring the plantations at secret addresses where there is real, natural oud wood, or a vintage perfume or a working perfume laboratory, he is always on the search for a new sensation to engrave into his memory.

By a dint of meetings and discussions, generally over an authentic Karak tea, AbdulAziz told Francois about his experience of the place he considers to be a glimpse of heaven on earth: the Maltese island of Gozo.

At the crossroads of worlds and times, Gozo contains vestiges of past settlements and of successive domination by the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Sicilians, the British or the French. The island sits at the crossroads of Mediterranean lands. It’s coastal coves are like surreal postcards and in the evening the winds seem to carry scents from both Africa and Europe.

The idea of transcribing Abdulaziz’ memory into perfume quickly became a challenge between two enthusiasts. As always with Jeroboam perfumes, it’s the independent perfumer Vanina Muracciole who strives to sculpt and outline the olfactory vision. And two years after the start of the project, GOZO debuted at an exceptional evening at the prestigious Al Hazm Perfumery Exhibition in Doha, Qatar.

The fragrance is a powerful woody and spicy floral scent that is perfectly mixed. It radiates sensual floral facets tinged with subtle hints of spices on a base of musks, precious woods and modern notes of ambroxan.
